Maddie's First Trip to the Children's Museum

My sister invited us to join them at the Children's Museum a few weekends ago. It has been a long, long time since I had been. I was excited for the opportunity to go.

The show case was focused on Barbie. Which, okay, I'm not a huge fan of her--but it was a nice display! The girls had fun trying on clothes and modeling them on the runway! :)

Madelyn also got to ride a carosel for the first time! Boy did she love it....I think this means Daddy's going to be buying her a horse in the future.... Hmmmm.....

Enjoy the pictures!

Maddie sitting in a tent--being Egyptian :) (Minus one sock!)

She LOVED riding the giraff!

Another good one of Marc and Maddie!

She just LOVES being upside down!

It’s always so sad when you hear it
Another soldier gave his life for his country
And each time it happens I stop to think
How thankful I am for our military

And when they talk about these fallen heroes
On the radio and on the nightly news
I wonder do we really understand what they went through
Do we really even have a clue?

Have you ever stopped to think about
During battle what the soldier heard and saw
Daily fighting for their families back at home
Daily fighting for us all

And it never really hit me
Until one of my own was shipped overseas
What it was like to be a soldier
What terrible things they had to see

Now theres the things everyone knows about
The bombs and guns that kill
But the media left out one important part
The family left behind to deal

The cries of the spouses and families
Who are constantly worried and alone
Sacrificing precious time with their loved one
Getting their comfort by way of a phone

And GOD forbid that terrible day comes
When a knock raps on your door
That’s something I’ve witnessed first hand
The other part of war

They say our heroes deserve honor
Especially those who gave their life
But what comfort does that bring
To the fallen soldier’s wife?

Or what about their kids or parents
Who supported them from day one?
To me the families all sacrificed so much
Gave their spouses, their daughters, their sons

GOD bless all of our soldiers
Both at home and overseas
And to those loved ones left behind
All of those brave and strong families

So next time you hear it on the news
Think of what their sacrifices really bring
And if you're lucky you’ll catch a glimpse
Of what freedom really means
