Weekend Adventures!

On June 27th, we traveled to the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky. The museum brings the Bible to life and answers many questions. My particular favorite was learning about the Ark that Noah and his son's built. I never doubted the stories of the Bible, but after that trip I was able to really visualize and understand the trials and difficulties of some of the followers in the Bible. What amazing faith they all had! It made me really appreciate how easy life is for me!

The museum also translated the Bible to better terms that people in our modern age could easily understand. There were passages that I have read so many times and, yet, never fully understood what exactly they were saying. Their is so much more that I understand now. But I still could learn so much more. I look forward to visiting there again. There are so many more things I want to read and learn about!

Not only was this a good weekend get away for me, Marc and my parents, but this was Madelyn's first vacation ever. So that made it ever more special. She did awesome. She would look around and listen to all the different sounds. It was really cute. Of course she slept alot too! How could you not in such a comfy stroller!!!

That evening we ate at a hole in the wall resturant named "Mr Herbs". Their specialty is their seafood. It was really delicious!

On our way home the next day we stopped in Nashville (Brown County, IN). We ate lunch and visited just a few shops before heading home. I think the trip took a toll on all of us. We were all ready for some rest!

The website for the Creation Museum is: http://creationmuseum.org/. I highly recommend going!

Here are some captured memories from our outing!

Welcome Madelyn Ann Roberts!

Monday, May 11th, I went for a doctor's appointment. They were going to "strip my membranes" in hopes to naturally kick start my body into labor. Once the nurse took my blood pressure and talked to me about what to expect, the mid-wife came in to do my usual exam. She talked to me about my unusually high blood pressure and said she would like me to run over to the hospital to do a few tests....I was fine with that because McDonalds is near by and it was time for lunch! I got dressed and walked out of the exam room to hear a congratulations from my doctor. He said I was going to have my baby today...He and the mid-wife must have noticed the confused look on my face, so the mid-wife stepped in and told me that I was going to be induced because of my high blood pressure. The only way to get my blood pressure down was to get the baby out.

So off Marc (who thankfully came with me to this appointment) and I were off to the hospital. Since they were going to induce, I wasn't allowed to eat anything...I was starving at this point, but I didn't care. I was going to meet my baby soon!

This is how the week broke down:
Monday - Started a drug to help me dialate
Tuesday - Dose number two of the drug used Monday; Checked out of hospital at my request to rest at home at 10:30 p.m.
Wednesday - Was at home on bed rest
Thursday - Checked back in and started a new drug
Friday - Started yet another new drug
Saturday - At 4 a.m. the nurse and doctor woke me up to tell me that the baby's heart rate had dropped. The doctor came in to run a stress test on the little one. By 7 a.m. stress test showed that the baby was fine. The doctor gave me the option of breaking my water in order to force labor or doing a C-section. After talking more with the doctor, we (the doctor, marc, and myself) decided that we would do the c-section since thats where it would more than likely end up anyway. We (me and the baby) were exhausted from the long week of contractions and they weren't sure how either of us would handle active labor with no reserves left. At 8 a.m. I was laying on the operating table reading the comics with the doctor while being prepped. By 8:36 a.m. I could hear the cries of my beautiful new baby! Marc looked over at me and said "It's a girl!"

Madelyn Ann was born weighing 8 lbs 4 1/2 ounces. She was 20 1/4 inches long.

Enjoy the pictures (in no specific order)! She is such a blessing and a joy!!!
