Rocking the Head Band!

Maddie decided she wanted to do something different with her hair today. Okay, okay, her mama wanted to try it! She didn't seem to mind it! She's so cute, she could wear anything and I'd post the pictures!

Have a great afternoon!

The Magic of Disney - My Favorites

This is my last blog about Disney (for this trip, anyway) - though I could blog on and on and on.... :) As you probably could tell, Disney World has made a lot of memories for me and my family. It doesn't represent just a cool theme park to me. Its so much more than that. Its getting soaked on Splash Mountain, being serenaded to by a quartet, eating a huge turkey leg with my dad, teasing my sister about the China video, rice crispy treats, dancing with my husband, feeding the birds churros, holding my sister's hand while watching fireworks during what was the most difficult time in her life, trading pins with strangers, watching the excitement in my daughters eyes the first time she saw Pooh or yelled for Mickey, seeing mom tear up at the end of the Lion King Show, getting chills during the American Adventure, watching my grandpa being pulled on stage to be part of the act....I could go on and on. These memories are so precious to me, and each time I visit I revisit those cherished memories.

Some of the high lights from this trip include:

  • Jon and Betty Jo going down Splash Mountain

  • The view of Wishes (the fireworks display) from the California Grill

  • Sharing a smoothie with Madelyn

  • Turning back to see Marc holding a sleeping Maddie in his arms

  • ALL THE FOOD

  • Maddie yelling "MICKEY MICKEY" when she saw him from a distance, but then turned shy when it was her turn to meet him (I was alone, so I have no one to attest to this, but I swear she yelled Mickey!)
I'm sure I'll think of about 50 more! Its just a wonderful place to go and enjoy your family - whether you have children or not! We met so many nice couples there who were enjoying time with just each other. Others, who came every year, wanted to tell us the best places to stay and eat. Then there were people we met with children Maddie's age and we shared travel tips back and forth.

As usual, this trip the Cast Members (Disney employees) were just wonderful! From the waitresses, to the bus drivers, to the cashiers. We didn't have a single bad experience. (Well minus the Norway Princess Breakfast....But we'll blame that on being too busy! Everyone needs a break now and then!)

Here are a few of my favorite moments (a few among sooo many) from this trip!

The Magic of Disney - Mommy and Daddy

Going to Disney before being parents was a lot of fun. We could move in and out and get through lines quickly. Parades were the best, because kids want to watch them which means less lines for us. We didn't spend much time in the toy part of the gift shops and Toon Town never saw our hot sweaty faces when we visited D-World.

But now....Now its so much better. I couldn't have imagined that having a little girl would make my Disney experience so much better. I always pitied the parents on the bus with a loaded stroller and screaming kids. I get it now though. Its so worth seeing her light up and scream "MICKEY MICKEY" when she saw the famous mouse. It was awesome watching her play with her new toddler friends at the playground in Toon Town. It was amazing to see her reaction to The Festival of the Lion King. That little girl has her daddy and me so crazy in love with her!

Here are some pictures of mommy and daddy moments at Disney!

Enjoy!

The Magic of Disney - The Dining

Disney World has so much to offer no matter what your age. That's what we love about it. Before Madelyn came into our lives, we would have fun going on all the big rides and moving at a fast past. This trip, however, I found myself enjoying watching her excitement as she saw Mickey Mouse or seeing her dance to several of the stage shows. It was so much fun for me!

Though there is something for everyone, people generally find that one thing that they love the most about the place. Its hard for me to pin point one particular thing, but I can tell you some of my favorite experiences has been during lunch and dinner. Everyone in my family gets a good chuckle out of what Marc and I find exciting - which is the food. We usually go to Disney when they offer the free dining plan. Now, in a normal person's world, that plan has plenty of food to get full from. That plan offers one counter service (this is like fast food - cheese burgers, wraps, pizza - includes a drink, dessert and a side item), one table service (this would be your fancier restaurant that has steak, shrimp, etc - also includes a side, drink and dessert) and one snack (ice cream, bottle water, rice crispy treat, etc) per person per day. Well this year Marc and I opted to upgrade and do the deluxe dining plan which offers three table service meals and two snacks a day. Oh and did I mention that on the deluxe plan you get an appetizer with every meal? Yeah...that's a lot of food. But considering several of the restaurants took two credits per person (the more expensive ones at the higher end resorts), we thought we could do it!

And did we ever! We ate until eating was not fun anymore! Ha ha! It really wasn't too bad - but we didn't ever complain that we were hungry! The food was excellent. My top picks are: Jiko (in the Animal Kingdom Lodge), Le Celliar (Canada in the World Show Case at EPCOT), Tusker House (Animal Kingdom), and California Grill (located at the Contemporary Resort).

Below are some pictures of some of the great meals! This doesn't even begin to show all the meals we had - and yes I took pictures of them all! I'll try to label them so you know what they are!

Enjoy - I know we did! ;)

Almond Crusted Cheesecake (Narcoose's) - This was by far the best I've ever had in my life!

Chocolate Creme Brulee (California Grill)
I don't remember what this was called. It was wonderful! It was a molten chocolate cake with a scoop of peanut butter gelato. IT WAS AMAZING. (California Grill)
Steak on a bed of loaded mashed potatoes with a teriyaki glaze (California Grill)
Lamb (California Grill)
Dessert at the Flying Fish
A carmel banana dessert (Flying Fish)
A wonderful steak (Flying Fish)
Tomato and mozzarella appetizer (Flying Fish)
Green Tea pudding dessert (Teppen Eto) -
It was surprisingly delicious. I would get it again in a heart beat!
This chocolate dessert was recommended by our waiter...He gave awesome advice! (JIKO)
Steak on a bed of Mac and Cheese with a wine sauce (JIKO) -
Weird right? It was totally -one hundred percent WONDERFUL!
Chocolate Cake (Le Cellier)
Canada for Two Appetizer (Le Cellier) - It was all super good. I'm not a crab lover, but the crab (on the sides of the plate) was delicious!
Creme Brulee (Yatchman Steakhouse)

The Magic of Disney - My Princess

The past week we've been on vacation at the most magical place on earth - DISNEY WORLD! It was wonderful! The weather was warm, but really nice! Marc's folks joined us on this trip. They seemed to have a good time, though I think we wore them out! Disney World has four parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios (aka MGM). Its difficult to see it all in one trip, so we wanted to get as much in as we could so they could experience it all! We also ate at some awesome restaurants that we normally wouldn't. It was a blast!

To post all the pictures will take more than one post. So I'm going to try to group the pictures. This particular post will display pictures of our little princess throughout the trip. These are just some of the pictures that were taken. They're in no order. There are several of Miss Maddie in her Cinderella dress - that's just because they were too darn cute to resist!

Enjoy!
