A half a year old!

Maddie turned 6 months old this past Monday! I can't believe how fast 6 months has gone! Thursday was her doctor's appointment to get her booster shots and to check her weight, height, and head circumference . She weighed 21 1/2 lbs and was around 26inches long! She's off the chart with her weight and in the 95th percentile for height! She's a healthy girl!

Earlier in the day we traveled to the Well Baby Clinic to get the flu shot, since our doctor's office was out of all the flu vaccines. That was an experience in itself! However, I was so proud of Maddie. She didn't even flinch when they poked her with the needle for her shot there! I couldn't believe it! Later, at the doctors office, however, she did notice those shots to say the least!

Since it was her 6 month birthday, Marc and I decided to get some her picture taken. Normally I would have liked to have my friend come out to take them since her pictures always turn out great! But I had a coupon for Sears and so we thought we'd give that a try. She did wonderful!

Almost Five Months!

As usual, I would like to take the time to brag on my special girl. Madelyn was weighed 19.9 lbs at the vets office on Monday! Can you believe that.....The fact that she weighed so much, not the fact that I weighed her on a scale that typically sees paws.....Anyway, our little girl is growing up. So far she hasn't tasted a food she hasn't liked, and hasn't found a toy that she hasn't tried to chew on. She is now grabbing her toes everytime she lays down and is prefering her thumb to the pacifier. What a big girl!

Her latest skill, however, happened this very day! Marc and I have been helping her roll. The other night she could almost do it on her own. (I say almost because she was using my leg to push off from.) But this morning when I placed her on her tummy, she would roll to the right every single time--no help from mom!

Dinner time!

Now that Maddie is 4 months old, the doctor gave us the green flag to start on solids. I have been looking forward to this for some time now! We started with just plain cereal. I don't think she knew what to expect at first. Here are some pictures from the experience. Enjoy!

Labor day fun!

The long weekend offered us a chance to celebrate our two year anniversary. We had so much fun hiking together in Tennesse the March before last that we thought we would do it again. This time we went to Turkey Run State Park.

It was a perfect day for hiking! We only saw a couple of people on the trails we took. The baby was in a happy mood. The temperature was neither hot nor cold. The food at the Turkey Run Inn was delicious! It was just an all around wonderful day that I will always remember! I can't wait for our next adventure!

Fun in My New Exersaucer

On one of my many yard sale adventures I found an Exersaucer in EXCELLENT shape for super cheap! I just had to get it for Maddie! She loves the fairy tale theme (or so I tell myself!) She's really be into grabbing at the frog and turning the wheels that make a rattling sound.

This video doesn't do the best job capturing her excitement the first time she played with her new toy. We used the regular video camera for that. By the time I grabbed my digital she was kinda winding down. Still--it is always cute to see her playing! Enjoy!

Goats!

Marc and I decided to do the unthinkable.....We bought goats! We wanted something to put in the small pasture we just fenced until we could get a shelter put up for the ewes we plan to bring to our house. We hope to have it done in time for weening. Until then we have three "pet" goats! Two females and a male. Maddie was pretty interested in these new creatures!
